National Meteorological Service Hosts Multimedia Training for Staff
The National Meteorological Service (NMS), in collaboration with the World Food Programme, recently concluded a two-day multimedia production training aimed at strengthening the agency’s communication capacity.
The training brought together meteorologists, forecasters, weather observers, and electronic technicians. Participants were introduced to the use of videography in meteorology, covering topics such as real-time updates, data visualization, public engagement, and video production for weather forecasting and planning.
The hands-on sessions included instruction on pre-production planning, equipment setup and use—including cameras, boom mics, and lighting—and post-production editing using Adobe Premiere. Participants also explored photography and graphic design to enhance weather presentations.
The training was supported by new videography equipment funded under the KOICA Project, including professional lighting (GVM 1200), shotgun and wireless lavalier microphones, an 18–35mm lens, tripod, C-stand, and boom pole setup.
With these new skills and tools, the NMS aims to better engage the public, combat misinformation, and deliver timely, accurate, and relevant weather and climate information across multiple media platforms.
