New Call Centre Opens in Belize City
The U.S. “Keep Call Centres in America Act” continues to influence the outsourcing industry. The bill aims to “reverse the trend” of call centre operations shifting overseas, and companies could face a ban on federal grants or guaranteed loans for five years unless they return an equal or greater number of jobs to the U.S.
Despite this backdrop, Voyse International is expanding its operations in Belize by opening a new call centre location on the Phillip Goldson Highway.
The expansion has allowed the 2-decade-old company to increase its capacity to host up to 90 employees at a time. The company currently employs between 300 and 400 staff and invests approximately 10 million Belize dollars annually in salaries, bonuses, and benefits.
“We’re not a huge operation like we see with other call centres that employ thousands of people,” said John Malic, Senior Vice President of Operations. “The most we’ve ever had is about 500; now we rest between 300 and 400 employees, and it’s enough based on the times we currently have.”
Malic told News 5 that the expansion “is a strong indication of investor confidence… to provide inspirational environments for people that work in the call centre business.”
The company also plans to open a second facility in Orange Walk as part of its ongoing expansion.
