New Details Emerge of Orange Walk Murder
Twenty-two-year-old Leonardo Vasquez was shot and killed near his home in Carmelita Village, Orange Walk District, on Thursday night. Police started their investigation after receiving reports of the incident.
According to police, “Vasquez and another male were riding a motorcycle in Carmelita Village, Orange Walk District, when another cycle with two occupants approached them and demanded money from Vasquez.”
The men stopped near Vasquez’s home, in front of a neighbour’s property, when the confrontation escalated, and the gunman fired a single shot through the wooden door that fatally wounded Vasquez.
Vasques was taken to Northern Regional Hospital for treatment. Police confirmed he was declared dead.
The house owner told News 5, saying, “I come inside and all I see is blood in the corner on the right side of my door, inside. By this time they had already taken the guy to the hospital. So, I didn’t even see him.”
The owner stated her son was home at the time of the incident. “He saw the guys quarrel, but he doesn’t know anybody. He just said something looks like will happen, so he run out of the yard and gone,” she said. “My baby dah just a baby.”
No arrests have been reported.
