New Patrol Vehicles Strengthen Traffic Enforcement

The Ministry of Transport is stepping up its presence on the nation’s roads. With traffic safety under growing scrutiny, the department has added two new patrol vehicles to its enforcement fleet aimed at keeping drivers in check and roads safer. The Nissan pickup trucks were officially handed over today and will be stationed in Orange Walk and Punta Gorda, strengthening traffic monitoring in both the north and south. Officials say the move is part of a wider effort to improve enforcement and reduce risky driving behaviors across the country. The brief handover ceremony took place this morning at the ministry’s compound in Belmopan.

“It is with pleasure that I handover these keys to our deputy chief transport officer as a continued effort we are making to upgrade our equipment across the country and giving our wardens the necessary equipment for them to conduct their work on a day to day basis as we serve our people on our highways. Hopefully with these equipment we will be able to get even higher compliance for our laws.”

“I am sure that the officers Who are going to be utilizing them from both Punta Gorda and orange Walk are going to make good use of these vehicles and maintain them in an acceptable standard so that they can last for as long as they should.”

These new patrol vehicles come at a time when reports of deadly collisions have been on the increase. The departments hope to curb these incidents with increased patrols and enforcement.
