No Motive yet for Marco Miranda’s Murder

On Friday, we brought you the heartbreaking story of Marco Miranda, a thirty-seven-year-old father of three who was shot dead during a late-night home invasion. Miranda was at home with his family when an armed intruder reportedly broke in and opened fire. In less than hour, Miranda was dead, leaving his family devastated and his community shaken. Today, police confirmed that Miranda was the target of the attack but have not identified any suspects or possible motives. ACP Hilberto Romero, Head of the National Crime Investigation Branch, has more details.

“On Thursday, police responded to a shooting at Los Lagos. Upon their arrival, they saw the lifeless body of a male person identified as Marco Miranda. Information is that he was at home along with his family when someone stamped the door open and a person fired several shots at him causing his fatal injuries. An investigation is being carried out at this time. We are not certain as to a motive, but several leads are being followed at this time.”

“There are some people who say it’s mistaken identity. That from a gang of a young person lives in the community, then you have other people who are saying, you know, it could be some kind of interpersonal business. Is there any direction you’re looking in?”

“Yes, we have several leads and information that is coming in, but at this time we have not clearly established a motive. And the investigation continues at this time. No, we do not suspect robbery.”

“So it was a targeted execution?”

“Yes, the door was stamped open and he was shot immediately thereafter.”

“I’m told they had people in the yard at the time.”

“There were neighbors around, but the person fled from the area and he was not apprehended. “
