NRH Responds to Latest Allegation
The Northern Regional Hospital (NRH) has issued a statement describing a social media post as “misinformation.”
The statement comes after claims that a patient was almost subject to negligence. Kaira Nunez wrote, “My sister almost became a victim of negligence at Northern Regional Hospital. She was diagnosed with an abdominal hernia at a private radiologist and referred to NRH for surgery.”
“On the day of the procedure, she noticed her file listed her for a gallbladder surgery instead. If she hadn’t noticed, she could have been put through the wrong operation.”
The post criticised the hospital, stating, “Honestly, patients should NOT have to double-check doctors’ work to make sure the right surgery is being done. Northern Regional Hospital needs to be held accountable, and measures must be put in place to ensure this does not keep happening again.”
In response, NRH clarified that hospital records confirm the surgery was for an umbilical hernia. It said, “The hospital records clearly indicate that the surgical management was for an umbilical hernia. It is unknown to the management of the NRH as to the underlying reason for posting this false information.”
The hospital also reminded the public of official channels to raise concerns, stating, “The management and staff remind the public that there is a way to file a formal complaint.”
