Officer Wanted in Red-Light Assault Case

A police officer is wanted after allegedly running a red light in Belize City. The officer has been identified as Special Patrol Officer Lewis Pascasio, who previously made headlines in 2024 when he was charged in connection with the aggravated assault of Belizean Olympian Shaun Gill. In that earlier case, Pascasio was accused of confronting Gill and pulling a firearm on him during an incident on Orange Street, a matter still believed to be before the court.  Superintendent, Stacy Smith today confirmed that Pascasio is now wanted by police for assault following this latest incident.

ASP Stacy Smith, Staff Officer

“As it relates to the inquiry pertaining to Mr. Pascasio, I spoke with one of the OCs in Eastern Division, and what he just advised me just a short while ago is that, yes, in fact, an incident occurred, and an investigation was triggered, and that investigation has resulted in charges being prepared for Mr. Pascasio in relation to  aggravated assault and wounding as a consequence of a report made by a police officer.”

Reporter

“Would you be able to confirm if he was under the influence when that happened?”

Stacy Smith

“No, I would not. But I believe the matter was captured on camera because it happened in front of the gas station that has been viewed, and that is what guided police’s action in terms of the charges that have been prepared.”
