One Detained After Orange Walk Man Shot Dead

Police have detained a person of interest following the murder of 45-year-old Beris Neemaya Anglin in Orange Walk Town.

Anglin was shot dead late Saturday night in Orange Walk Town. Assistant Superintendent of Police Stacy Smith confirmed that Anglin’s common-law wife discovered his body inside their white concrete house.

Investigators recovered several 9mm shell casings and slugs, and according to reports by neighbours, multiple gunshots were heard around 11:00 p.m.

Reports are that Anglin suffered gunshot wounds to the face, right hand, left foot, abdomen, upper right shoulder, and back.

Smith also reported Anglin had been charged hours earlier for a drug-related offence. “He was given station bail and was to go before the magistrate court today,” Smith said.

“There is no motive so far that has been established. The person of interest that has been detained, interviews will be conducted with him to see how it advances this investigation,” Smith added.
