One Man Hospitalized After Machete Attack on Caye Caulker
Authorities are investigating a violent machete attack that left a man injured in Caye Caulker early Thursday morning. Police were called to the Bahia area of the island following reports of a chopping incident. When officers arrived, they found thirty-seven-year-old Mark Budd, a laborer from Orange Walk District, suffering from multiple chop wounds. According to investigators, Budd had just arrived at his residence shortly after mid-night when he was confronted by a man armed with a machete. The attacker inflicted several wounds before fleeing the scene. Budd was rushed to the Caye Caulker Polyclinic and later transferred to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital in Belize City, where he remains in a stable condition. Police say the investigation is ongoing as they work to identify and apprehend the suspect.
