Oscar Mira Seeks Right Fit for Home Affairs CEO

Minister Mira is on the lookout for a new CEO to lead the Ministry of Home Affairs, and the shortlist is already turning heads. Among the names being floated? Former Commissioner of Police Chester Williams and Deputy Commissioner of Police Bart Jones, two heavyweights in law enforcement. What really matters is this: despite all the chatter, no decision has been made. Today, Minister Mira made it clear, this is more than filling a seat. It’s about finding the right fit, someone with the experience and vision to steer the ministry forward.

Oscar Mira, Minister of Home Affairs

“I don’t want to say who, but we are having discussions with the Office of the Prime Minister about having a suitable candidate for CEO. It is a very important job. I think we all know that changes has to happen. He are looking at different candidates trying to find the right fit, someone that will work well within the ministry and also someone who has the know how and experience of security. It is not an easy job and we understand that and we want to take time to ensure the recommendations I have given to the prime minister, which are only recommendations, he does the appointment, but that we are looking at them carefully. I do have discussions with him to make sure we have the right fit.”

Why did you not keep Ms. Sharole?

Oscar Mira

“No, that has nothing to do with me. As I said, there has to be changes. I think that everyone has come to the conclusion that she is not one of the candidates. That is not so. There are many recommendations, more than one, and it is to find a person that who will work as my CEO and has the experience to make sure the ministry runs smoothly.”

“I believe based on the names I have heard, being former Commissioner Williams, Deputy Commissioner Bart Jones, both of them would do an excellent job.”

“What is the fate of your former CEO?”
