Police have made an arrest in connection with an attempted robbery in Orange Walk Town. Forty-year-old Oscar Arnolfo Calderon, a laborer from San Ignacio Street, is now facing charges after investigators linked him to the crime. The incident dates back to December ninth, when the owner of Bangladesh Minimart reported the attempted heist. Assistant Superintendent Stacy Smith says surveillance footage played a key role in cracking the case.

“He was at his business, namely Bangladesh Minimart, when a male person who was masked entered that establishment and produced a metal pipe and made demands of him, the male person is also reported to have raised his shirt, at which time the proprietor said he observed a firearm. As a consequence of this, the proprietor fled that establishment and the matter was later reported to police. The investigators retrieved a number of video footages from various locations in the vicinity, and this led them to executing a search warrant at the residence of Calderon, which also yield matters or pieces of evidential material.”
