Passengers Arrive Safely After Water Taxi Crashes into Mangroves
Passengers of a Caribbean Sprinter water taxi have safely arrived at their destination after the vessel crashed in a small mangrove area.
The boat had left its port at 10:30 a.m. on its usual route to Caye Caulker and Ambergris Caye when the incident occurred.
The water taxi company confirmed that all passengers and crew are safe. “Everyone’s well-being is always our highest priority, and our team responded immediately to ensure everyone is safe and was taken care of,” the water taxi company said in a statement.
Caribbean Sprinter also confirmed that one passenger sustained a hand injury and stated, “We are ensuring she gets medical attention right away.” The remaining passengers were transferred to another vessel to continue their journey safely.
A relative of one passenger told News 5 that those on board were in panic following the incident.
The water taxi company said a full report will be released once assessments are complete.
