Pitts Declares UDP Battle-Ready Under Panton
Pitts underscored that under Tracy Panton’s leadership, the United Democratic Party is battle-ready and in strong fighting form. She highlighted the party’s policy priorities, which include advancing the Whistleblowers Act, strengthening Freedom of Information laws, and eliminating nepotistic appointments within government.
Sheena Pitts, Chair, United Democratic Party
“And let me tell you we have meeting with the business community and some financier and that whistle blower act that the UDP support, we have heard from our counterparts who are willing to work with us and when I tell you the proposal of having a six figure award for whistleblowers for those in the public service who have information of the corruption in this government. That is what we mean by saying zero tolerance. We wont talk it we will put things in place to show. You see these nepotism in government appointments, that is also a part of our policy we will address. You see this rampant disregard for request made under FOIA? Cause lets be real, we have to make it know far and wide, not only within our country, to regional and international partners, that when Belize stand up and say oh we comply, we have Anti-money laundering mechanisms, we have oversight, we have everything that makes a government work. We are here to say, don’t let this PUP administration fool. We have everything on paper but there is no implementation and enforcement and this UDP government in waiting is here to tell you that being in fine, fit, fighting form is addressing those things in real time.”
