Police Hunt One Suspect in Jory Bowden Murder
Police are searching for one suspect in the murder of 27-year-old Jory Bowden, who was shot several times while sitting in the yard of a house on Central American Boulevard in Belize City on Friday night.
Bowden became the third murder victim in the city within a twenty-four-hour period, with all three killings occurring in the same area.
At this morning’s police briefing, Assistant Commissioner of Police Hilberto Romero, head of the National Crimes Investigation Branch, laid out what investigators know.
“The information is that Jory Bowden was at a yard sitting down when a male person jumped a fence and fired several shots towards his direction, causing his fatal injuries,” Romero said. “We are seeking one suspect in regard to this murder.”
Romero linked the possible motive to “rivalry that these persons have in that area at this time.”
Investigators are probing whether the latest shooting is connected to the other incidents; however, officers have not established whether Bowden’s murder is connected, “but follow-up work is being done to try and determine that,” Romero said.
Bowden was taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital but died on arrival. Police had previously reported finding expended shell casings and blood in the yard where the shooting occurred.
Police continue to conduct operations in the area as they monitor growing tensions.
