Police Investigate Crash Involving Minister’s Government Vehicle

A government vehicle assigned to Cabinet Minister Henry Charles Usher flipped near Mile Two on the Philip Goldson Highway after one of its tires reportedly blew out. The Ministry of the Public Service says the minister and his driver were returning from official duties in San Ignacio in a Ford F-150 pickup. After dropping the minister off at his residence, the driver continued home. But near the Mile Two roundabout, the vehicle suffered a blowout, overturned and sustained extensive damage. Fortunately, the driver escaped without injury. Police responded to the scene and have opened an investigation. The ministry has also reported the incident to the Assets and Utilities Management Unit, in keeping with government procedures. In its statement, the ministry reminded drivers of government vehicles to exercise greater caution on the roads, particularly during periods of heavy rain. It also reaffirmed its commitment to protecting public resources and ensuring accountability in the conduct of official business.
