Police Minister: No Rosado Link in Budna Kidnapping
Minister of Home Affairs Kareem Musa told reporters today that there’s nothing that implicates the Commissioner of Police, Dr Richard Rosado, in the ongoing case of Joseph Budna’s abduction. Musa stressed that the case remains open pending an independent investigation. If later findings implicate any officer, “we will deal with those officers,” he said.
He defended the government’s decision to temporarily reinstate Dr Rosado, saying the move was necessary to restore stability within the police department. “We need to move forward with other issues that we’re facing in terms of the crime and violence in Belize…But at this particular time, there’s nothing to implicate him,” Musa stated.
The minister also addressed criticism over the delayed release of surveillance footage from the incident, assuring the public that it will be made public once the independent investigation concludes. “Let us preserve the evidence, at least to the end of the independent investigation,” he explained.
