Police Presence on George Price Highway Reduces Considerably

If you’ve driven along the George Price Highway, you’re used to seeing police checkpoints, especially around mile four. But lately, that familiar location has been empty, and the checkpoints seem to have been abandoned. So, what’s going on? Is that booth permanently closed? Today, we put the question to Senior Superintendent Reymundo Reyes, Eastern Division Commander, and here’s what he had to say.

Sr. Superintendent Reymundo Reyes, Regional Commander, Eastern Division

“No, ma’am. What we are doing is that we are limiting the checkpoints being done in the Europe. Both police officers present will still be at that checkpoint. In the event that we have information of any drugs or firearm coming in, or in the event that we have robbery and we need to intercept any vehicle, the officers will be on the ground. So it’s not that we’re closing down  the checkpoint.”
