Police Pursue Leads in Early-Morning Murder of Christopher Smith

Investigators are currently combing through footage from the Crime Fusion Center as they chase leads in the murder of 23-year-old Christopher Smith.

Smith’s body was discovered in a yard on Arlington Drive in Belize City at around 7 a.m on Sunday. Police said he had apparent gunshot injuries and several expended casings were found at the scene. 

Investigators believe Smith was shot at around 1:20 a.m., after reports of gunshots were received in the area. 

“However, the responding officers were not able to establish a scene at the time,” confirmed ASP Stacy Smith in this afternoon’s police press brief. “The department has since retrieved footage from the Crime Fusion Center, which have provided leads, and those leads are currently being pursued by the investigators.” 

Meanwhile, concerns have been raised that Smith’s murder could be connected to a previous murder case in which he had reportedly been a witness. 

ASP Smith dismissed this stating that police have not yet established a motive. 

“I know he was arrested and jointly charged with another individual in relation to a murder that occurred in November of 2024. He got charged so the matter was before the court. But as I stated, it is an ongoing investigation,” ASP Smith added.
