Police Recapture Robbery Suspect After Manhunt

He slipped out of police custody after being accused of robbing an American tourist in San Ignacio, but tonight, twenty-nine-year-old Israel Usher is back behind bars. Usher will be spending Christmas inside the Belize Central Prison. At first, reports suggested he lived in Santa Elena, but after his escape, he didn’t stick around. On Tuesday night, police tracked him down during a joint operation in Hattieville Village. Today, authorities formally arrested and charged him for robbery. The entire incident was caught on camera, and investigators used that surveillance footage, along with others from the area, to identify and capture Usher.
