Police Seize Rifle, Ammo in San Ignacio House Search
A major bust in San Ignacio has landed three people in police custody after a surprise search turned up a serious stash of weapons and ammunition. Earlier today, officers moved in on a home on Maya Street, where fifty-one-year-old Reina Isabel Amaya lives. Inside were two other residents, twenty-year-old Henry Jeremy Amaya and twenty-seven-year-old Jose Santos Amaya. Police say that during the search, they discovered a rifle-style nine-millimeter firearm, GIVATI brand, along with two magazines, a drum magazine, and a shocking amount of ammo: one hundred and ninety-five rounds of nine-millimeter and twenty rounds of point two-two-three ammo. The stash was reportedly hidden in a bucket inside the house. None of the individuals could produce a firearm license, and as a result, all three were detained and taken to the San Ignacio Police Station, where they now await charges. Authorities are continuing their investigation into how such a cache ended up in a residential neighborhood.
