Port Authority Rolls Out Mobile Clinics for Early Boat License Renewals

The Belize Port Authority isn’t waiting for January; they’ve already started renewing licenses and carrying out required safety checks. To make the process easier for boat owners and tour operators, BPA has launched mobile licensing clinics across coastal communities. Those who miss this opportunity will have to pay the usual one-hundred-and-fifty-dollars administration fee, plus travel expenses for port authority inspectors. Ports Commissioner Kaylon Young explains how the initiative works and why vessel operators are being urged to take advantage early.

“We have begun renewing boat licenses for the new year. Our boat, the license expire at the end of the year and so we are doing, conducting our safety inspections. And doing license for the new year. And we’re starting early so that we don’t, so we have enough time to, for everyone to have the inspected and be licensed for the new year. We have taken this service to the people. Normally, we would come here for the service, but we take the service to out to the people. It’s what Reserve would known as clinics. So we, we’ve done San Pedro, we’ve done key character. This last week we were in Dan and Hopkins. This week we are in Placencia and Mango Creek and surrounding areas. So anyone in the area can go to our team and we offer full service. It’s not just boat registration, boat captain license, everything. Everything that BPA offers, we take a service to our people. And so this week we’re in, like I said, in Placencia Cock, and we encourage everyone to come out. You don’t have to worry about paying admin fee because we are doing it for you guys. And yeah take advantage of it.”
