President Ali, PPP/C Headed for Landslide Win
President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali and the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) are projected to win a second term with a sweeping victory in Guyana’s 2025 General and Regional Elections, according to preliminary results from the Elections Commission.
Prime Minister Mark Phillips and Vice President Bharrat Jagdeo are also expected to return to office.
The newly formed We Invest in Nationhood (WIN) party is drawing significant support away from the opposition A Partnership for National Unity (APNU), which faces heavy losses nationwide. For the first time, the PPP/C is projected to win Region Four, the country’s largest electoral district and a traditional opposition stronghold.
The PPP/C is also on track to secure majorities in multiple other regions, consolidating its dominance.
