Rasta Roots Meet Entrepreneurship at Royal Melchizedek Camp

In the heart of a Rastafarian camp, a quiet revolution is taking root, one that blends ancient philosophy with modern entrepreneurship. Empress Fulani, a social development strategist, is leading a movement that goes beyond teaching conflict resolution and business skills, it’s about reshaping futures. At the Royal Melchizedek Camp, young people are learning how to turn soil into self-sufficiency, preparing vegan products and agricultural by-products that reflect their values and heritage. It’s a blueprint for empowerment, rooted in the Rastafarian way of life and aimed at building businesses that nourish both body and spirit.

Empress Fulani, Social Development Strategist

“As a social development strategist, part of the work that I do is I teach conflict resolution, I teach circle-keeper training, and I also teach business development for young people, in particular, workforce development with a particular aim towards developing businesses. Starting with this week, there’s a business development training that’s happening at the Royal Melchizedek Camp and it’s centering on looking at agricultural businesses that certainly the camp and the community can get involved in, but certainly looking at creating pathways for young people around getting into agricultural businesses and looking at ways to train young people to develop some kind of small self-ran businesses, specifically like vegan businesses because, of course, that’s in line with Rastafarian philosophy. How to make vegan, how to come up with different kinds of agricultural by-products that can be sold.”
