Road Closures Set for Weekend Cycling Championships

The Cycling Federation of Belize is warning drivers of temporary road closures this weekend as the country prepares to host the 2026 Caribbean Junior Road Cycling Championships.

The first event, an Individual Time Trial, takes place Saturday, August 22nd, starting at 7:00am on the Boom Hattieville Road. The race starts and finishes just past the Blackberry community, with the road closed from the Boom entrance to the Hattieville Roundabout for the duration of the event.

The second event, a Road Race, follows Sunday, August 23rd, also starting at 7:00am, along the Philip Goldson Highway between the Flag Monument and the last roundabout near North End Estate. The road will be fully closed between the Flag Monument and the Westrac Roundabout, while other sections along the route will operate under rolling closures, meaning traffic will be allowed through with caution whenever riders aren’t in the immediate area.
