Saldivar Demands Release of Budna’s Abduction Footage

Attorney Arthur Saldivar is raising some serious questions tonight. He points out that several government-owned buildings sit right in the area where Budna was abducted, and every one of them has surveillance cameras. So why, he asks, hasn’t the government released that footage to calm public skepticism? News Five has been calling for those videos to be made public, and today, reporters pressed the Prime Minister even harder for answers.

Arthur Saldivar, Attorney-at-Law

“You have four different institutions all equipped with cameras on their buildings. All these institutions comes under the auspices of the government of Belize. Yet we have not yet seen not even one video form any of the angles those cameras would have picked up with those buildings. That is something that should outrage the Belizean public. This is what it leads to, great skepticism, cynicism and a general erosion of the confidence of the people in the government that should serve them. The honorable thing for those involved is to step aside and allow for an independent investigation to occur.”

“What about releasing the video to the public for transparency?”

“Which video. I have not seen it?”

Reporter

“The surveillance footage from around the area?”

Prime Minister John Briceño

“Again, the report from the police will be able to show light on all of that.”

Reporter

“But we are formally requesting the release of all those footages.”

Prime Minister John Briceño

“How can you do that if they are doing an investigation? Hold on man, unu need to relax. We need to get that report, ok.”
