Salvation Army Calls for Compassion, Not Combat
The Salvation Army is sounding the call once again, not for combat, but for compassion. With Christmas giving in full swing and community needs growing all year, the organization says it can only keep changing lives if Belizeans step up. From feeding families and caring for the elderly to disaster relief, after-school programs, and that beloved annual Christmas party for kids, the Salvation Army’s impact stretches across the country. Today, they reminded us that this kind of work depends on people willing to serve. Advisory Board Member Dave Vasquez says if you can’t give financially, give something just as valuable, your time and your heart.

“Christmas is only a time that we highlight the work that it does, but Salvation Army is a organization that does great work all year around supporting the division community. This event particularly is something that we hold near and dear because it’s for the children, Christmas time is generally for the children, so this is an event that we put on our calendar every year highlighted as the most important event we do. Please ask. You don’t have to be a member of the board. The board does take some sacrifice in terms of being able to volunteer your time. If you’re not prepared for that, then you can always volunteer whenever you have the time. But the Salvation Army always needs support financially with donations, in kind or with your time. Throughout the year we know we have all the, we have Ganns, the Ganns guest host, we have, we feed the tour and there’s also the we do the donation spot and you can get used clothing and stuff like that. There are several things. We have we have locations in the district. We have one in Hattieville, actually on the highway in the Hattieville area that supports that local community as well. We have in Cayo. All over Belize the Salvation Army is represented, but we, it’s a, it’s an outreach program, does education, it does food support, does of course livelihood support, everything, right? So it’s a great organization to be part of.”
