Salvation Army Celebrates Christmas with 400 Children
The Salvation Army brought Christmas cheer to Belize City today, welcoming 400 children to its annual Christmas Party, an event that has become a cherished tradition for generations. The Holy Redeemer Parish Hall was transformed into a festive space filled with toys, treats, performances, and warm meals, but the brightest part of the celebration was the joy on the children’s faces.
Salvation Army District Officer Major Marc Eddy Momplaisir said the event is made possible through the generosity of Belizeans who give throughout the year. “Not only do we help these children, but we help other people as well,” he explained, adding that every coin dropped into the iconic red kettles directly supports initiatives like today’s celebration.
This year’s program also delivered a message of resilience and encouragement. Guest speaker Dr. Sharmayne Saunders urged the young attendees to believe in their own potential. “The message is hope, hope that no matter what you’re going through, you can rise above it,” she said. She reminded them that “any little thing that you do” can make a positive difference in their future.
With the Salvation Army’s kettle drive ongoing through the holiday season, the organization says every contribution helps bring hope, and a little Christmas magic, to children and families across Belize.
