San Ignacio Police Seize High-Powered Weapon, Ammunition

Police in San Ignacio have detained three people following the discovery of a high-powered firearm and a large quantity of ammunition during a search conducted today.

According to reports, the search was carried out at a residence on Maya Street in San Ignacio Town. Inside the home, officers found one GIVATI-brand 9mm rifle-type firearm with serial number GFX0006, along with two magazines, a drum magazine, 195 rounds of 9mm ammunition, and 20 rounds of .223 ammunition.

The items were discovered hidden in a bucket inside a room. None of the individuals present could produce a firearm license.

As a result, all three persons were detained and taken to the San Ignacio Police Station, where they remain pending charges for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Police investigations are ongoing.
