If you get a text claiming you owe money for a traffic ticket, police say don’t click and don’t pay. The Belize Police Department is warning the public about a scam message now making the rounds by text and online. The fake notice claims the recipient committed a traffic offence and must pay through a website or face penalties, including license suspension or legal action. Police say the message did not come from the department. They’re urging the public not to share personal or financial information, and to verify any traffic-related notice through official Government of Belize channels. The department says it is investigating and working to have the fraudulent website removed.
