Second Suspect Arrested in 2021 Murder of Geoffrey Crawford
Belize police have formally charged 31-year-old Patrick Lloyd Young, a labourer from Dangriga, in connection with the murder of Geoffrey Crawford, which occurred on September 21, 2021. Young has been charged jointly with Maurice Esley Usher, who was arrested and charged in October 2021.
Crawford, 69, a retired porter, was abducted from his home near Crooked Tree Village. His body was later discovered in a shallow grave in a remote area of Biscayne Village, near the location where his stolen red SUV, a Nissan Pathfinder, was recovered. The vehicle had gone missing from Crawford’s residence at the entrance to Crooked Tree Village.
At the time of Usher’s arrest, the Belize Police Department indicated that investigators believed Usher did not act alone and were searching for additional suspects.
Neighbours had reported seeing Crawford being forced into his vehicle by two men on the morning of his disappearance. Witnesses described Crawford as a kind and peaceful man, with no known enemies, leaving the community shocked by the crime.
