Senate Approves New Parliamentary Logo
The Senate has approved the formal adoption of a new official logo for the National Assembly of Belize. This change gives the country’s legislature a clear and modern identity.
Leader of Government Business Senator Eamon Courtenay moved the motion. He described the National Assembly as “a cornerstone of the nation’s democratic system and the embodiment of the people’s will.” He said the new logo is intended to reflect “the highest levels of dignity, authority, and respect” of the legislative branch. Courtenay added that Cabinet has approved the design and its formal adoption.
The Clerk of the National Assembly will be responsible for its management, safeguarding, and authorised use.
Opposition Senator Patrick Faber gave full support. He said, “We look forward to moving into the new National Assembly Building,” adding that the logo helps present “a new and improved parliament.”
Business Senator Kevin Herrera also supported the motion but raised concerns about the design. “I am not feeling it looking at the logo,” he said, expressing hope that democratic ideals could be better reflected in future revisions.
The motion was approved without opposition.
