Senior Officer Shoots Man During Burglary in Ladyville

Senior Superintendent of Police Cristopher Noble shot thirty-year-old Devon Grant of Belize City during an alleged burglary attempt on Compassion Lane in Ladyville, Belize, early Sunday morning.

Police responded to a shooting at around 4 a.m. on Sunday. ACP Hilberto Romero said Noble had responded to a burglary in progress and saw two men armed with crowbars.

Romero said Noble shouted at the men to stop. “Thereafter, one of the male persons fired shots towards his direction. He then took cover and returned fire.”

Grant later showed up at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital with gunshot injuries and remains in stable condition.

Romero said, “The crowbars were recovered, expended shells and there are damages on the window and the door.”
