Soca Moca Does It Again, Claims Sixth Carnival Championship

Soca Moca claimed the senior title at the 2026 Carnival Road March for the sixth time, while four bands were disqualified across both categories.

This year’s Carnival Road March began at Memorial Park in Belize City, with bands making their way along the Barrack Road and Princess Margaret Drive route before finishing off at Marion Jones Stadium, where the competing bands gave their final performances before the judges.

The Belize Carnival Association announced the results on Sunday.

In the Junior category, Soca Massive took first place with 602 points, followed by Collet Royals with 582 points. Black Pearl placed third with 493 points.

Soca Moca claimed the top spot in the Senior category for the sixth time. Meanwhile, Mother Nature Creation finished second but also boasts the victory of securing both the Carnival King and Carnival Queen titles during the King and Queen competition on August 15.

Four bands were disqualified from the Road March for failing to meet the required number of revellers. In the Junior category, Sunshine Masqueraders and Rhythm Rockers were disqualified, while Fort Revellers and Trench Town Masqueradors were disqualified in the Senior category.

According to the Carnival Association, senior bands were required to have at least 75 revellers, while junior bands needed a minimum of 45.

Prizes for the winning bands are expected to be distributed on September 25.

Association President Patrick Thompson also announced that elections for a new president will be held on November 28th, overseen by the National Institute of Culture and History and the National Celebrations Commission. Thompson said only the president’s seat is elected for a four-year term, with the president then selecting his executive team. Anyone interested in running is asked to submit their name so ballots can be prepared.

Thompson confirmed that he will not seek another term.
