Spelling Bee Champ Returns to Cheer On Young Competitors
Last year’s Anglican Schools Spelling Bee champion, Raheem Nu’Man, made a return to the competition…this time from the audience, offering support to this year’s contestants.
The ten-year-old All Saints Anglican Primary School student won the 2025 title after months of intense preparation, studying up to 100 words daily. While he described the process as stressful, he says the experience was ultimately rewarding.
“It was very challenging, but in the end it was nice,” Nu’Man said.
Now balancing academics with his passion for football, Nu’Man continues to set high goals for himself, aspiring to become both a professional athlete and a police officer.
His father, Saleem Nu’Man, says what stood out most after the win was his son’s humility.
“He felt bad for the ones who didn’t win,” he shared.
Organisers say the competition remains an important tool for strengthening literacy skills among students, even as digital communication becomes more widespread.
