SSB Board Requests More Information Before Speednet Vote

A key decision on BTL’s proposed purchase of Speednet remains on hold tonight. After relocating their meeting from Belize City to Belmopan to avoid protests by UDP supporters on Wednesday, Social Security Board directors sat down to review the proposed acquisition, one that’s stirred concern among workers and contributors alike. Board members examined early details on the deal and its possible impact on the social security fund and the wider economy, but when the meeting wrapped up, no vote was taken. Instead, the board says it needs more information before moving forward, making it clear that no approval has been given at this stage.
