SUV Driver Served Notice in Roaring Creek Fatal RTA

Police have served a Notice of Intended Prosecution to a driver after a fatal traffic collision claimed the life of 29-year-old Manuel Mungia on Saturday, February 14.

According to Assistant Superintendent of Police Stacy Smith, officers responded around 9:20pm on Saturday to reports of an unresponsive man between miles 47 and 48.

“Police also encountered a male person on the scene who was driving an SUV, and that SUV also showed signs of damage on the driver side,” ASP Smith said.

She reported that police found Mungia near a damaged motorcycle and a guardrail that also showed signs of impact.

“What we have learned so far is that Mungia was travelling from the direction of Belize City to Belmopan,” Smith said. “It is reported that he veered into the lane of the oncoming traffic, and when he would have collided with that vehicle, his motorcycle careened and collided into the guardrail.”

ASP Smith confirmed that a notice of intended prosecution has been served to the SUV driver. The name of the SUV driver was not provided to the media.
