Targeted Law Enforcement Operations Uncover Illegal Firearms

Five men are now facing firearm charges after four police operations in Belize City and Ladyville turned up multiple illegal guns and ammunition. From a Glock pistol discovered during a targeted operation to a loaded Remington recovered in Ladyville and another firearm found after police intercepted a speeding SUV, investigators say the operations have taken several weapons off the streets. ASP Stacy Smith has the details.

“Police have formally arrested and jointly charged twenty-year-old Gregoria Pitter and nineteen-year-old Aaron Pitter for the offense of kept firearm without a gun license. The arrest follows an operation at a residence on Peter Street by members of the Violence Prevention and Enforcement team just before nine o’clock PM on seventeenth August 2026. This operation resulted in the discovery of a black nine millimeter Glock pistol. Pitter, Aaron Pitter, has since pled guilty to the charge and is currently remanded at the Belize Central Prison, where he awaits sentencing. Police in Ladyville have formally arrested and charged thirty-year-old Anderson Martinez for the offense of kept firearm without a gun license and kept ammunition without a gun license. The arrest follows the execution of a search at the residence of Martinez on Monterey Boulevard on Sunday, twenty-third August, which led to the discovery of a black Remington pistol with a magazine containing fourteen rounds of nine-millimeter ammunition.  Police have formally arrested and charged thirty-three-year-old Lloyd Perchue of Croton Lane, Belize City, for the offense of kept firearm without a gun license and kept ammunition without a gun license. The arresting officer, GH3 personnel, reported that they were on anti-crime operation in the St. Martin’s area when their attention was drawn to an SUV traveling at a high speed at around three forty AM. That vehicle was pursued and intercepted, and a subsequent search of that vehicle led to the discovery of a Smith & Wesson brand pistol. Police have formally arrested and charged twenty-seven-year-old Tyrese Gladden of, Frederick Alley, Belize City, after a search of a residence, of his residence resulted in the discovery of a nine millimeter glock pistol containing a magazine with ten live rounds of nine millimeter ammunition.”
