Teen Killed in Fatal Motorcycle Collision in Belmopan
A tragic accident in Belmopan has claimed the life of an 18-year-old student. The crash happened around 5:20 p.m. on Thursday, October 16, at the intersection of Saint Jude and Saint Matthews Streets.
When police arrived, they found a damaged bus and a motorcycle lying in a nearby drain. Investigators say the bus, driven by 23-year-old Jonathan Estrada of San Ignacio Town, was travelling along Saint Matthews Street when it collided with the motorcycle, which was coming down Saint Jude Street.
The motorcycle was driven by Jonni Cano, who was carrying his friend Jamin Patt, both students from the Stann Creek District. The impact threw them from the bike.
Emergency services transported both students to the Western Regional Hospital. While Patt’s condition has not been disclosed, Cano was pronounced dead on arrival. Estrada escaped the crash without injury, and police continue their investigation.
