Ten-Year-Old Among Victims in East Canal Shooting
Gunfire erupted on East Canal in Belize City on Saturday night, leaving five people nursing gunshot wounds. It happened around eight thirty p.m. when a silver van with no license plates pulled up at the corner of East Canal and Dean Street. Two men, both armed, jumped out and opened fire on a group socializing near a white van. Four people were hit in the barrage of bullets, including forty-three-year-old Errol Tillett, thirty-year-old Lincoln Patterson, twenty-six-year-old Sean Reneau, and a ten-year-old. All were rushed to K.H.M.H. and are listed in stable condition. But that’s not all, minutes later, twenty-year-old Maximiliano Jones showed up at the hospital with gunshot injuries of his own. Police believe he may have been one of the gunmen involved in the attack. The shooters sped off up Dean Street after the ambush, and today, investigators are working to piece together what led to this brazen act of violence. ACP Hilberto Romero revealed more details on the incident.

“On Saturday, police responded to a shooting at East Canal in Belize City. Upon their arrival, they learned that five persons had been shot and taken to the KHMH. Information is that these persons were hanging out in the area when a vehicle approached. A male person came out and fired several shots towards their direction. They were all treated at the KHMH and are all in a stable condition. They were identified as Errol Tillett, Lincoln Patterson, Sean Reynold, and a 10-year-old. We have no suspect at this time, and again, we suspect this is gang-related.”
