Three Dead, Two Injured in Separate Collisions
Two separate road traffic incidents on Sunday night left three people dead and two men injured.
In Punta Gorda, two men are receiving treatment after a motorcycle crash on Sunday shortly after 10:00 p.m. along the Thomas Vincent Ramos Highway. Reports are that the rider heading north lost control and hit a roadside tree. Brenton Cofius and Carl Manger were transported by ambulance to the hospital. The motorcycle was impounded.
In Orange Walk District, a violent collision on the Trinidad/August Pine Ridge Road proved fatal. Footage of the incident shows a red Ford F-150 off the road and a loaded cane trailer attached to a Freightliner truck. The three fatalities were identified as Selvin Cortez, and Bryon Magaña and his partner Sherlyn Henriquez.
One of Henriquez’s relatives wrote online, “Rest in peace, my beautiful niece. Thank you for the beautiful moments we spent together; you will always live in my heart.”
The Belize Police Department is expected to share more details on both incidents this afternoon.
