Three Years Later, Two Men to Stand Trial for Tanga’s Murder

Winston “Tanga” James was gunned down in broad daylight just moments after leaving his attorney’s office in Belize City back in January 2022. He was shot multiple times, crashed his vehicle, and died on the scene. His common-law wife, Marybeth Wade, was also injured in the attack. Now, more than three years later, two alleged George Street Gang affiliates, Azzane Domingo and Eustace Lewis, have been committed to stand trial in the High Court this October for murder and abetment to murder. Domingo, still without legal representation, faces four indictable charges, including the attempted murder of Wade. Lewis, represented by attorney Ellis Arnold, was granted bail and released.

The prosecution has submitted over twenty-five witness statements and documents, with Wade expected to be the crown’s key witness. Neither man challenged the evidence during today’s preliminary inquiry before Chief Magistrate Deborah Rogers.
