Top Teams Clash in Weekend Football Double‑Header
Football fans in Belize City have a big weekend to look forward to, as some of the top First Division teams go head‑to‑head in a high‑stakes double header at the Marion Jones Stadium. The Belize District Football Association is rolling out a special “three‑K” incentive match, an initiative designed to reward discipline, boost sportsmanship, and give families a safe, lively football experience. Executive member Ian Gaynair told us the goal is simple: motivate young players and keep building the positive, energetic atmosphere that’s been growing at Marion Jones.

“The three K match is basically just an incentive for young football players around Belize City because other districts have their other matches similar to this and the guys on my side ask why can’t we do something. Our first division tournament is currently going and I just said let me throw in a little incentive to show the guys that we appreciate that all the games are going well, no trouble. We have a lot of security and families coming out and, just come to enjoy football at the Miami Jones Stadium. The first game is at three p.m. It’s Cesar Rich versus Reggae Boys. There are two teams that are rivalry, and they’re on defeated. They’re in the top four. So whoever win that game will be promoted to the other three K game here. And the grand finale, the El Classico, the highly anticipated game is Tut Bay FC versus Kelly Street – two team that been to the championship before, one games. Anytime those two team meet, it’s a whole lot of thing. It’s for bragging rights, it’s for everything. The cost is only ten dollars. And the ten dollars will go right back to the other when we have the other match. And you’re going to see two exciting match. We have food and drinks on sale, DJ, games for the kids. So it’ll be a nice event. And we always have a lot of security.”
So, as fans gear up for a full day of rivalry, family fun, and high‑energy football, organizers say this weekend’s double‑header is all about celebrating discipline and giving young players a stage to shine.
