Tour Guide Charged with Murder in ‘Big Tom’ Shooting; Bail Denied
This afternoon, a dramatic scene unfolded at the courthouse. Fifty-year-old tour guide Sidney Peyrefitte, a resident of Sunset Park near Mile 8 on the George Price Highway, was brought in under heavy police guard to face a single charge of murder. The charge stems from Monday’s shooting death of well-known street figure Kenneth ‘Big Tom’ Flowers on Sittee Street in Belize City. Peyrefitte arrived just after 1:30 p.m., flanked by armed GI3 officers, and by 2:25 he stood before Magistrate Mannon Dennison in Court Six.

No plea was taken, and bail was denied due to the seriousness of the offense. Peyrefitte will remain at the Belize Central Prison until December eleventh. Before leaving, he raised concerns about threats to his life and his family’s safety, asking if special precautions could be taken. The magistrate assured him those concerns would be passed on to prison authorities. Police say Peyrefitte admitted under caution to firing the shots that killed Flowers, and investigators have seized his licensed firearm for forensic analysis. A postmortem confirms Flowers died from a single gunshot wound to the chest.
