Tourist Posts Viral Clip of Flooded Belize Hotel Room

A tourist’s stay at a Belize hotel went viral after she posted a video showing rainwater pouring through the ceiling of her room during an overnight downpour.

In the clip, the visitor captioned her experience, “Stay at Mahogany Bay in Belize, they said,” while showing water streaming from the roof and flooding her two-queen-bed suite. 

The tourist ended the video with a blunt review, stating, “Would not recommend.”

Mahogany Bay Resort quickly responded to the viral post, and apologized publicly.

“We’re truly sorry for the inconvenience you experienced. Please respond to us in our DMs so we can speak with you directly and work toward a helpful resolution,” the resort stated.

They added that the incident does not reflect their standards and that they hoped for the opportunity to “make things right.”

The tourist also confirmed that she has reached out to the resort’s management by email to discuss the situation. 

Meanwhile, many social media users praised the resort for its prompt and professional response. “I’m thinking this is a one-off incident, and you guys are definitely gonna make it up to her,” one supportive social media user said.
