Tragedy on Simon Lamb Street; Murder-Suicide Suspected

Police made a chilling discovery on Saturday afternoon when they responded to reports of shots inside a home on Simon Lamb Street. Two people, twenty-six-year-old Kiera Gentle and twenty-seven-year-old Harrison Arnold, were found dead inside a bedroom. Both victims had sustained gunshot wounds. Police have since launched an investigation into a suspected murder-suicide. Gentle and Arnold were in a relationship, but they separated shortly before the deadly incident. Reports are that they were involved in an argument prior to the shooting. News Five’s Paul Lopez reports.

A tragic scene unfolded on Saturday afternoon inside an apartment building on Simon Lamb Street in Belize City. A deadly shooting claimed the lives of two persons, twenty-six-year-old Kiera Gentle and twenty-seven-year-old Harrison Arnold. An audio recording from the area, captured as the shooting unfolded, tells a chilling tale of a woman screaming, before three gunshots rang off. Fourteen seconds later, another three gunshots rang out. In the aftermath, Gentle and Arnold were found dead inside a bedroom. Tonight, police are treating the incident as a murder-suicide investigation.

“Officers attached to the precinct three station responded to reports of persons being injured at a residence on Simon Lamb Street, Belize City. As a consequence of this report, police visited the location where they were led to a room and upon entering the observed the unresponsive body of Kiera Gentle, a twenty-six-year-old Belizean of the same address and Harrison Arnold, a twenty-seven-year-old of Pike Crescent Belize City. Both bodies exhibited apparent gunshot injury.”

 

A nine-millimeter pistol, licensed to Arnold, was recovered from the scene. Police confirmed that Gentle and Arnold were in a relationship and that they were separated when the shooting occurred. Gentle was residing inside the apartment building.

“Police have launched an investigation. The information that has been disclosed so far is that the two were in a relationship but were separated at the time of the incident.”

 

Their loved ones described Gentle and Arnold as calmly spirited and full of energy. Their deaths have come as a shock to many. Reporting for News Five, I am Paul Lopez.
