Transport Department Sends New Pickup Trucks to OW and PG
The Department of Transport has received two new pickup trucks as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen road safety and improve day-to-day operations across the country.
The two Nissan pickup trucks were officially handed over today during a brief ceremony held at the department’s parking lot in Belmopan. The vehicles will be assigned to Orange Walk and Punta Gorda to support transport wardens in carrying out enforcement duties there.
The minister of transport, Dr Louis Zabaneh, said the new equipment will help improve compliance with traffic laws. “Hopefully with these equipment we will be able to get even higher compliance for our laws,” he stated.
Deputy Chief Transport Officer Peter Williams thanked the ministry for its continued support, saying the new resources will make a noticeable difference in operations.
CEO Chester Williams added that the vehicles will be properly maintained to ensure long‑term use. “I am sure that the officers who are going to be utilising them from both Punta Gorda and Orange Walk are going to make good use of these vehicles and maintain them in an acceptable standard,” he said.
