Trump Threatens to Blast Iran “Back to the Stone Ages”
In a post on his Truth Social platform, US President Donald Trump wrote that Iran’s president had “just asked the United States of America for a CEASEFIRE,” adding that Washington would only consider the request once the Strait of Hormuz was “open, free, and clear.”
“Until then, we are blasting Iran into oblivion or, as they say, back to the Stone Ages!!!” Trump wrote.
Iran’s foreign ministry quickly rejected the claim, with spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei calling it “false and baseless,” while Trump’s reference to a “New Regime President” has raised questions.
Since U.S. and Israeli air strikes began on February 28, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed and succeeded by his son Mojtaba, who has issued written statements but not appeared publicly. Trump himself has said he does not know if Mojtaba is alive.
Iran’s actual president, Masoud Pezeshkian, elected in 2024, remains in office and appeared in public yesterday, saying the country had the “necessary will” to end the war, BBC reports.
Trump is scheduled to deliver an address today with what the White House has described as “an important update on Iran.”
