Trump to “Permanently Pause” Migration from Third-World Countries
U.S. President Donald Trump said he will “permanently pause migration from all third-world countries” following a shooting near the White House that left two National Guard members injured, one of whom has died.
Trump posted late on Thanksgiving Day, saying his administration would “end all federal benefits and subsidies to noncitizens” and remove “anyone who is not a net asset to the United States.”
Authorities say a 29-year-old Afghan national, who previously worked with the CIA during the post-9/11 war in Afghanistan, is expected to be charged with first-degree murder in the death of 20-year-old Specialist Sarah Beckstrom.
Trump’s statement marks a major escalation in his immigration policies. The US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is also re-examining green cards for “every alien from every country of concern,” though the list of affected countries has not been fully clarified.
