Trump’s ‘48 Hours or Hell’ Warning Escalates Conflict with Iran
Tensions between the United States and Iran have escalated after US President Donald Trump issued a 48-hour ultimatum demanding Tehran strike a deal or face severe military consequences.
“Time is running out – 48 hours before all Hell will rain down on them,” Trump wrote. He warned Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz or risk attacks on key infrastructure.
Iran swiftly rejected the threat, with a senior military commander calling it a “helpless, nervous, unbalanced and stupid action” and warning that any escalation would backfire, Al Jazeera reported.
The standoff comes amid ongoing conflict following US and Israeli strikes on Iran in late February. Iran claims it has shot down multiple US aircraft, including an F-15 fighter jet, which raised doubts over Washington’s claims of air superiority.
Meanwhile, a US pilot went missing after ejecting over Iranian territory. Trump confirmed early Sunday that the airman’s F-15E fighter jet was shot down. The incident is the first time since 2003 that a US aircraft has been shot down in conflict.
Iran had called on civilians to help locate and capture the airman. The pilot is said to be injured but expected to recover.
