Two Accidents Mar Garifuna Settlement Day
Belizeans across the country came together on Wednesday to celebrate Garifuna Settlement Day, a day filled with music, culture, and vibrant festivities. But for a few, the night ended in a frightening way. Just before eight p.m., police were called to a crash near mile thirty-seven on the Philip Goldson Highway, close to Rhaburn Ridge Village. Reports say the driver of a red Ford Explorer fell asleep at the wheel, causing the SUV to veer off the road and flip. Thankfully, the four people inside escaped serious injuries and were treated before being released. Not long after, another accident happened in Hopkins Village when two vehicles collided. Several people were hurt, and police are still piecing together what happened.
